Dear Councilmember Yagong,
As we had previously discussed, I would like to formally offer to you and the members of
the Hawaii County Council my time and assistance with providing a comprehensive overview of
our department. I feel it may be of benefit for both the new members of the County Council as
well as a refresher for returning veteran Council members to have this presentation as we all
prepare for the difficult financial challenges that lay ahead.
Included in my presentation would be a summary of the services and missions that we
provide, as well as an overview of our resource allocation and distribution across our island
community. As you are well aware, our department is very unique and is the only county fire
department in the state of Hawaii that provides the broad spectrum of services inclusive of
Emergency Medical Services and the only department with a contingent of active volunteer first
responders
I realize and appreciate the limited available time the Council may have and will insure
my presentation is thorough yet succinct. If this offer meets with your approval, my Secretary
Ms. Laurie Kaneta will coordinate this effort with your staff.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and assistance. I look forward to
working with you and the entire Council to help make our island home a safer and better place
to live
