Re: Tracking of Legislation at the State Legislature
I am requesting time during the January 4, 2011 meeting of the Hawai`i County Council Governmental
Relations Committee to discuss with the committee the tracking of legislation during the 2011 session of the
Hawai`i State Legislature.
Rather than expend County funds to contract an outside source to track State legislation and lobby the State
Legislature, we will be utilizing existing staff to track legislation. Council Member Pilago, in his capacity as
Chairperson of the Governmental Relations Committee, will lobby the State Legislature when necessary.
County Clerk Jamae Kawauchi and Legislative Specialist Steven Offenbaker will be identifying State
legislation that may be of interest to the County and providing updates to the Council about that legislation as it
makes its way through the State legislative process.
Additionally, if there is legislation at the State level that Council Members wish to have tracked that is not
already included in the report they can have those bills added by contacting the County Clerk's office.
