I think it is reprehensible for the council to vote down a public hearing on such an
important issue that will directly effect the public! If it is our money that is needed to pay for
something, then we should have the right to decide whether we are willing to provide the
funds. I, for one, am not willing to give Mayor Kenoi more money!!! He has already raised
our taxes last year when property values dropped by almost half, and the recent passing of
constitutional amendment that gives the tax rebate for Mayor Kenoi to use at his discretion
shows his lack of either fiscal responsibilty or concern for the public at large.
Since the public spoke loud and clear in the election that we disapprove of the current
council's direction, either a "NO" vote should occur or the vote should be postponed until the
new council is seated. This effects us going forward and we prefer the new council to make
the decision.
The economy is still in bad shape and a lot of people don't know if they will have enough
food to last until the end of the month. Yet, we are expected to pay for another loan. I will
remember the council members and Mayor Kenoi and will campaign to see that anyone who
votes for this $56M bond issue will not be re- elected. Mayor Kenoi's promise that he will
reduce the tax when the housing market rebounds appears to be another false promise, since,
if this bonds passes, taxes will go up not down. Mayor Kenoi and the council are to work for
the public not the other way around. No wonder so many council members were voted out!!
