WHEREAS, the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) has donated $1,400
to the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, these monies will be used to provide educational and athletic opportunities
for children in grades five to eight, who are unable to participate because they exceed the
program's weight restrictions; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this
donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAH that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, • the Hawai'i County Charter, the
Council of the County of Hawai'i accepts the $1,400.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be
sent to the American Resort Development Association, 1201 15 Street, NW Suite 400,
Washington DC 20005, and that a copy also be sent to Ms. Kym Sparlin, PMCI Hawaii, 84 North
King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96817, acknowledging this generous donation.
