This D8 bulldozer is needed to meet the <br /> Department of Health's requirement that County landfills have at all times, equipment available <br /> to manage daily solid waste. This equipment will be used as a backup unit, in the event that a <br /> primary bulldozer is out of service due to repairs or maintenance needs, and will be used to <br /> facilitate the Hilo landfill sliverfill project to extend the landfill's useful life. <br /> The Solid Waste Fund does not have the resources to purchase the referenced equipment <br /> and therefore the Department of Environmental Management requests the authority to enter <br /> into a five (5) year lease agreement in which the County will own the equipment at the end of <br /> said lease. The funding for this lease is included within the current fiscal year's budget. <br /> In order to expedite the acquisition of this equipment and to eliminate the need for the long- <br /> term rental, the Department of Environmental Management requests that the resolution be <br /> waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the December 15, 2010 Council <br /> Meeting agenda. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Department of Environmental <br /> Management. <br /> 4_ <br /> Nancy E.
