No. 8 PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa 78 -128 `Ehukai Street Kailua -Kona, Hawaii 96740 TIME: 9:00 Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Comm. No. 8, reports as follows: Communication No. 8 from Mayor William P. Kenoi dated November 15, 2010, requests a favorable recommendation for the nomination of Joseph Nimori to the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory Committee. Mr. Nomori is the 1 Vice President of the Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 279. He is also a member of the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion Association (WHVCDEA). Pursuant to Section 15 -61, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), and in conjunction with Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 363 -5, members of the Veterans Advisory Committee are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the County Council. If confirmed, Mr. Nomori will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2015, replacing Robert Welter. Communication No.8.1, from Nathalie Santos was presented to your committee, to inform members that Mr. Nimori is currently on the mainland and unable to attend this meeting. It also stated that Ms. Santos would inform Mr. Nomori when he is to appear before the full Council. Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Clayton Honma, informed your committee that Mr. Nomori's expeditious confirmation is necessary to meet meeting quorum requirements for the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory Committee.
