Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred, Bill No. 8,
reports as follows:
Bill 8, transmitted by the Director of Public Works Warren Lee, via Communication No. 29,
dated December 10, 2010, requests the Hawaii County Code 1983, (2005 Edition, as Amended),
Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 4, Section 24 -276, Schedule 24 (Crosswalks), Subsection (c)
South Hilo, be amended by adding new item:
(j Waianunue Avenue, fronting the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home
Council Member Ikeda spoke in support of this item commenting that this is in his district, and
addresses a real traffic safety concern. Mr. Ikeda informed the committee that this is necessary
because the parking lot is on one side of a heavily traveled thoroughfare and the Veterans Home
is on the other.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill 8, and recommends its passage on first reading.
