Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill 9,
reports as follows:
Bill 9, transmitted by Director of Public Works Warren H. W. Lee, via Communication No. 30,
dated December 10, 2010, requests the Hawaii County Code 1983, (2005 Edition, as Amended),
Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5 (Parking), Section 24 -280, Schedule 28 (No parking at any
time), subsection (f) Kona, be amended by adding and renumbering as required.
(_) Haleki`i Street, both sides, from a point four hundred ten feet west of Muli Street and
extending one hundred sixty feet in the westerly direction.
Council Member Ford asked Mr. Ron Thiel (DPW) to explain this item to the committee.
Mr. Thiel explained that this was requested by the Hokulia Management to address parking
concerns during the County's temporary use each day of the private portion of Haleki`i Street.
Mr. Thiel also informed the committee that there were other places to park in the area.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill 9, and recommends its passage on first reading.
