Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 18 -11, Communication No. 33,
reports as follows:
Resolution No. 18 -11, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford via Communication
No. 33, dated November 9, 2010, authorizes the acceptance of donation from Hilo Wal -Mart
monetary donation totaling $1,000 to the Hawaii County Fire Department's Fire Prevention
Division toward the purchase of materials and supplies for Fire Prevention Week.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13 -12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property. Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article
30, Section 2- 162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift which does not fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted to the Council by
letter for its approval.
There was not discussion this measure.
Letters of appreciation will be sent to donor Ms. Jessica Borges and Mr. Torrance Crowley, Hilo
Wal -Mart Store #2473, 325 E. Makaala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 acknowledging this
generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 18 -11,
and recommends its adoption.
