It is my pleasure to nominate Richard Nelson, III, from the South Kona District to the Hawaii
County Leeward Planning Commission Mr Nelson is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i
Mr Nelson was formerly Congresswoman Mazie K Hirono's West Hawaii liaison He presently
is president of Oiwi Lokahi O Ka Mokupuni O Keawe He states that he is a Democrat
Mr. Nelson presently serves as a member of the Leeward Planning Commission Since his term
was an original term of one year (soon to expire on December 31, 2010), he is eligible for
reappointment If confirmed, he will serve a five year term to end on December 31, 2015

RE: Communication No. 55 Nomination of Mr. Richard Nelson, III, to the Hawaii
County Leeward Planning Commission
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Planning to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the
matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Planning for placement on its future agenda.
