Re: Operating Budget
The Hawai'i Fire Department is receiving an additional $47,364 from the U.S. Department
of Agriculture, Forest Service's Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program. These funds
will be used to purchase safety equipment for all of the fire stations. In the current fiscal
year's budget, $50,000 was appropriated in anticipation of this grant.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
additional funds into the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant account.

The Hawai'i County Fire Department applied for and was notified of the approval of the grant application for
the FY2010 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program for $97,364 or $47,364 more than the FY2010
budgeted amount of $50,000. Funds will be used to purchase safety equipment for personnel at all fire
stations.
