Enclosed is a resolution transferring $10,000 out and from the Hawai'i County Office of
Aging's Area Plan on Aging OCE account and crediting it to a new Hawaii Fire
Department's account entitled "Project Lifesaver ". The Office of Aging is supporting
efforts of the Hawai'i Fire Department to continue their Project Lifesaver Program, that
began in 2007. Project Lifesaver is a national program that allows older individuals,
affected by dementia and at risk for wandering, to remain in their homes rather than being
institutionalized. Funds will be used to purchase a global positioning system (GPS) that
tracks the individual wearing the band in case they have wandered off.
