Subject: Kamaoa Road
Dear Sirs /Madams:
Please consider the following concerning the gate on Kamaoa Road.
If the gate is removed and the road is open to the public, will it be improved?
If so, where is the money coming from, and is this a good use of our public
funds? Will the county be liable for any accidents on this road? My wife fell
during the walk thru, injured herself, and tore her jeans. This is on record
with the county. Will the county reimburse for her jeans?
The hunters want this open, but the road goes only to private land.
Therefore, they must get permission to hunt. Otherwise they will be
trespassing and poaching on private property. Presently, hunters leave pig
carcasses and entrails along Kamaoa Road and Kahiki. This provides another
dumping ground for them.
If the road at South Point Road is opened, will the council ensure that the
other end is open at the highway?
The matter of vistas is subjective, but I cannot see some travelling that road
for the view. Can you imagine this: Kids, get in the truck, we're going to
Kamaoa Road today?
This is a divisive issue. As a compromise, why not treat this as a county park.
That is, open it during the day and close it at night. I know of no good reason
that anyone would want to travel there after dark. Obviously, can't see any
views at night.
As a side question: If this is ungated, will the council ungate the road at
Punalu' u?
