Your Committee on Finance, to which was refereed Resolution No. 43-99, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 43-99, transmitted by Council Vice Chair Al Smith, via Communication No. 152,
dated February 16, 1999, authorizes the participation of the executive and legislative branches in
celebration of County Government Day. Further, said resolution designates up to $1,000 from
the Clerk Council SVC OVE Miscellaneous Contract Services account No. 010-101-5101.02-
1 I S to be expended on County Government Day activities.
Currently, April 18-24, 1999, is National County Government Week. The purpose of this
national event is to provide citizens with a better understanding about their County Government
functions. In collaboration with National County Government Week, the Hawaii County
Council requests the Mayor to proclaim Tuesday, Apri120, 1999 as County Government Day.
An amendment was made to change County Government Day to Tuesday, Apri120,1999, from
the original proposed date of Wednesday, Apri121, 1999.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 43-99, as
amended to Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
