RESOLUTION NO. 32 ILI
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF
$500 TO THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF
MATERIALS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AGAINST METHAMPHETAMINE DRUGS
WHEREAS, The Hawaii Police Athletic Foundation is donating $500 to the Hawai'i
County Police Department to be used to educate the public on the prevention of
methamphetamine use; and
WHEREAS, this grant will allow the Hawai'i County Police Department to purchase
materials such as brochures and pamphlets for the specified public education project; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawai'i County Charter provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate and Chapter 2, Article 30,
Section 2 -162 (b) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations of money,
securities, or personal property not covered by the capitalization procedures (of the
Department of Finance) shall be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval, we request
the Council's approval of the following donation; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that cash
donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process;
and
WHEREAS, the Hawai'i County Police Department recommends the acceptance of
this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2- 162(b) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawai'i accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution
be sent to Dennis P. Peterson, President, Hawaii Police Athletic Federation, P.O. Box 22623,
Honolulu, Hawaii 96823, acknowledging this generous donation.
