Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Comm. 56, reports as follows:
Communication No. 56, from Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated January 5, 2011, requests confirmation
of the appointments of Loreli Eberhardt (4 -year term) and Chirstopher Roehrig (4 -year term) to
the South Kohala Community Development Plan (CDP) Action Committee:
Loreli Eberhardt is a 20 -year resident of South Kohala and an active member of her community.
She is the Founder of the Love in the Name, of Christ non -profit that provided social service
support to the community by serving as a clearinghouse to coordinate volunteer support. Loreli
has developed an extensive network of contacts and has previous experience in property
management. She believes that the function of the Action Committee is to advance the
implementation of the CDP goals and objectives.
Christopher Roehrig is a 32 -year resident of the South Kohala district and has been self
employed as an attorney since 1978, providing legal services in the Waimea area. He has served
as the President of the Exchange Club and is an avid paddler and member of the Kawaihae
Canoe Club, Christopher has extensive experience in dispute resolution and in the past has
served as an arbitrator in mediation cases. He believes that Waimea benefits greatly from its
residents, participating in community affairs and giving back to the community.
Both nominees were in attendance at the Waimea County Council office.
Committee Chair Hoffinann asked both nominees to introduce themselves and discuss their
background and work experience and to comment on their desire to serve.
Loreli Eberhardt stated she was born and raised in Hilo and has lived in Waimea for 20 years.
She has worked in the -hotel and travel industry for approximately 20 years, and in real estate
property management for six years. She also stated she was involved with the Hawaii Island .
Humane Society as well as .17 different churches in West.Hawai`i.

Christopher Roehrig stated he moved from Puna to Waimea in 1978, where he and his wife have
raised their four children. He was a Prosecutor for the County of Hawaii for five years and has
practiced general practice law and represented clients of all areas.
Councilmember Yagong expressed to the nominees, on behalf of the Council, his full support
and thanked them for their willingness to serve. He also stated the CDP is an important
community document, the implementation of which is recommended by the Action Committee.
He commented that their appointments would serve a very important role and again
congratulated and thanked the nominees for their willingness to serve.
The nominees are not required to be present at final confirmation before the full Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 56
and recommends confirmation of the appointments of Loreli Eberhardt and Chris Roehrig to the
South Kohala CDP Action Committee.
