Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill 15, reports as follows:
Bill No. 15, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, via Communication No. 59 dated
January 3. 2011, is an Ordinance amending Section 25 -8 -33 (City of Hilo Zone Map), Article 8,
Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), by changing the
District Classification from Single Family Residential — 10,000 square feet (RS -10) to Industrial
Commercial /Mixed — 20,000 square feet (MCX -20) at Waiakea, South Hilo District, Hawaii,
covered by Tax Map Key 2- 2- 050:040.
Councilmember Onishi stated that this is in his district and he supports it as there are already
MCX zonings in the area.
Chairman Hoffmann asked the applicants if they would like an opportunity to speak, which they
declined.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 15 and
recommends it pass first reading.
