Comm. 107: SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL TO CONSIDER THE MAYOR'S
NOMINEES TO THE 2011 REDISTRICTING COMMISSION
From Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated February 14, 2011, submitting for Council's
confirmation the following individuals to the 2011 Redistricting Commission:
Valerie T. Poindexter (District 1), Jeffrey M. Melrose (District 2), John "Mike"
Middlesworth (District 3), Patrick L. Kahawaiolaa (District 4), Rene Siracusa
(District 5), Linda Ugalde (District 6), Susan Maddox (District 7), Dru Kanuha
(District 8), and Peter L. Hendricks (District 9);
and
Comm. 107.1: From Council Chairperson Dominic Yagong, dated February 16, 2011, stating that a
Special Meeting of the Council will be held on March 1, 2011, 6 p.m., at the Hilo
Council Chambers, in order to consider the confirmation of nine nominees to serve
on the 2011 Redistricting Commission;
and
Comm. 107.2: From Chairperson Dominic Yagong, dated February 22, 2011, stating that the
nominees submitted by the Mayor for the Redistricting Commission will be taken
up in the manner prescribed in Council Rule 10, Item No. 15, which states:
"Members of boards and commissions duly appointed by the Mayor, as prescribed
in Section 13 -4(b), Hawai`i County Charter, shall be voted on individually and not
as a group or as a slate of members or nominees ";
and
Comm. 107.3: From Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated February 22, 2011, requesting the withdrawal of
Communication No. 107 for the purpose of clarifying the nominees relating to
Districts 7, 8, and 9. Submits for the Council's favorable confirmation the
following nominees to the 2011 Redistricting Commission: Valerie T. Poindexter
(District 1), Jeffrey M. Melrose (District 2), John "Mike" Middlesworth
(District 3), Patrick L. Kahawaiolaa (District 4), Rene Siracusa (District 5),
Linda Ugalde (District 6), Dru Kanuha (District 7), Craig `Bo" Kahui
(District 8), and Joseph A. Carvalho (District 9).
