Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill 22,
reports as follows:
Bill 22, transmitted by the Director of Public Works Warren H. W. Lee, via
Communication No. 77, dated January 19, 2011, amends the Hawai`i County Code 1983, (2005
Edition, as Amended), Chapter 24, article 10, division 5, section 24 -280,
(no parking anytime), subsection (c) South Hilo, by adding Holomua Steet, east side, from
Wiwoole Street and extending 113 feet in the southerly direction.
This is necessary to address a sight distance concern for motorists turning from Wiwoole Street
onto Holomua Street when cars are parked too close to the intersection. The problem is
particularly evident when large vehicles park within the subject area.
There were no statements from the public for this item.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill 22, and recommends its passage on first reading.
