Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 801, reports as follows:
Communication No. 801, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated June 2, 2000,
nominates Mr. David R. Powell of Council District 2 to serve on the Hawaii County Tax Board
of Review. Mr. Powell would replace Bill F. Eger, who resigned to seek elected office.
Mr. Powell, a 42-year resident of Hawaii, has been retired since 1998. He was employed by
Case & Lynch, Attorney at Law, from 1987 to 1998. He is involved with the Consuelo Zobel
Alger Foundation and the Family Foundation of North America. Of no political party affiliation,
Mr. Powell will serve a term to end December 31, 2000.
Pursuant to Section 19-96, Hawaii County Code, "there is created a board of review for the
county which shall consist of five members... appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the
council as provided by charter."
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. David R. Powell to the
Hawaii County Tax Boazd of Review.
