Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 274-00, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 274-00, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 831, dated June 26, 2000, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Drs. Holly and
William J. Priestley. A letter of appreciation will be sent to Drs. Holly and William J. Priestley,
105 Ka`ulike Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Drs. Holly and William J. Priestley have graciously donated a 13-year old male Catalina Macaw
for educational and display purposes to the Department of Parks & Recreation for the Pana`ewa
Rainforest Zoo. The value of this donation is estimated at $2,500.00.
Pursuant to Article X[II, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 274-00
and recommends its adoption.
