Re: Communication No. 972.5, relating to the reconsideration of Bill No. 311
On April 5, 2011 the Hawaii County Council will hold a public hearing so that the public has an
opportunity to provide comment as to whether or not they support the Council reconsidering Bill
No. 311, relating to general obligation bonds.
For your information and to provide the procedural history of Communication No. 972.5, on
November 30, 2010, the Hawaii County Council held a special meeting for reconsideration of Bill
No. 311. Council Mcmber Donald Ikeda, who transmitted Communication No. 972.5, made a
motion for reconsideration of Bill No. 311, and was seconded by Council Member Dennis "Fresh"
Onishi. At the special meeting I made a motion to "move for a public hearing on Council Member
Donald Ikeda's request for reconsideration so that the public has an opportunity to weigh in on
whether they support the reconsideration motion. The date and time of the public hearing will be at
the can of the newly elected chairman of the county council that is selected on December 6, 2010, 1
so move," and it was seconded by Council Member Pete Hoffmann. The motion was duly
approved with Council Members Ford, Hoffmann, Naeole, Yoshimoto and I voting for a public
hearing.
In consideration of the above, I am placing Communication No. 972.5 on the April 6, 2011 1 lavvai`i
Count Council agenda. Since Bill No. 311 would become live on the Door should the
reconsideration motion requested in Communication No. 972.5 be approved, please place Bill No.
311 and all related communications on the April 6, 2011 Council agenda as well.
