RESOLUTION NO. 52 11
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF A CHOPPER SPOTTER
TO THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR USE TO HANDLE HELICOPTERS ON THE
PAVEMENT
WHEREAS, the Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation is donating a new J.B. Knowles Inc. CHOPPER
SPOTTER ®; a unique, patented machine used to handle helicopters on the pavement, to the Hawaii Fire
Department; and
WHEREAS, this equipment, valued at $11,149 will be used to provide a safer means to deploy a
helicopter designated as Chopper 1 from the hanger when personnel are limited; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real
estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2 -162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code
states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization
procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article
XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawaii
County Code, the Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Ms.
Laura Mallery- Sayre, P.O. Box 1285, Kailua Kona, Hawaii 96745, acknowledging this generous donation.
