Plastic makes us 80% of the volume of litter on roads, parks, and beaches. 2. Plastic makes up 90% of floating litter in the ocean. 3. Plastic Bags are mistaken as a food source by animals, such as turtles mistaking them for jellyfish. 4. Plastic Bags take 500 to 1000 years to biodegrade. 5. Between 500 billion and 1 trillion are used worldwide each year. 6. The manufacture of plastic bags add tones of carbon emissions into the air annually. 7. In the UK, reducing plastic bags would be the equivalent of taking 18,000 cars off the roads each year, reducing our carbon footprint. 8. The little pieces of plastic act as a sponge for chemicals.
