Aloha Councilmembers,
Please do NOT support Mark Travalino for the Leeward Planning Commission.
I understand he spoke at two Kona Land Use Commission meetings, on behalf of the Hawai'i
Laborers Union, in strong support of reclassifying conservation land at O'oma to allow
building. He took this position though numerous concerns had been raised -- aircraft noise,
urban sprawl, and impacts to cultural and archaeological sites, open space, class AA
coastal waters, and coastal plants and animals.
Please seek another appointee with a record of protecting natural and cultural resources,
and with a commitment to the Kona Community Development Plan.
