While we do not personally know Mark Travalino, we are very aware that he is in favor of creating jobs in Kona, since he represents the Hawai'i Laborers Union, which means to us, that he is in favor of development as long as it brings jobs. What is needed for the Leeward Planning Commission is someone who fully understands the significance of protecting the land and culture of our island. We ask that you send this nomination back to Mayor Kenoi for a replacement who understands the concepts of Smart Growth and who will honor the Kona Community Development Plan. The KCDP represents the Leeward area citizen's desires and should be respected. We would be happy with either of two citizens who we personally know have applied for the Leeward Planning Commission and who live in the correct district -- Ms. Debbie Hecht and Mr. Win Chang. Either would be very acceptable as a commissioner as they would represent the KCDP philosphy and understand Smart Growth. Please vote NO on Mr. Travalino's nomination. Sincerely, Marjorie and Duane Erway PO Box 2807 Kailua Kona, HI 96745 324 -4624 Comm. No. I * Ref. To: i Ref. Date -JAN d mai_._._
