HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0064.034 2010-2012 Plastic Bag Reduction Bill
I feel we should definitely push for the passing of this bill. The production
of plastic bags wastes energy and money that could be better spent on
resources to make the world a cleaner place, or to help educate and inform
people in all countries about the dangers of plastic and the pollution created
by the prevalent use of plastic bags for everything. The bags literally end up
all over the world, miles and miles away from where they were originally
handed out. Often they end up in our ocean endangering the lives of birds,
fish and mammals. Plastic bags and their debris kill thousands of animals all
over the islands and beyond. It would not be such a hardship to use paper
bags, fabric or other biodegradable bags. We can just throw them in our
composts and continue with the recycling plan of the planet. Maybe these
alternatives don't feel as shiny and clean as plastic but they are far superior
and so much better for this overcrowded planet. The less plastic bags used,
the less pollution will be created and it is just another small step on the long
path towards an environmentally friendly, more sustainable world!
