Plastic bag reduction!? Is it a bad idea or a good idea. America goes shopping nearly everyday and
wasting up to 20 million bags year. Those bags are bad!!! They are made up of oil, oil is a natural
resource, oil costs money!!! The world depends on oil, it literally runs on oil and we are wasting it by
making plastic bags. None of it even gets recycled!!! It goes to landfills and landfills go into the ocean
which is bad for wildlife and bad for humans. Plastic bags are literally just floating bags of oil, well they
are made out of a chemical called polyethylene. Polyethylene is a deadly chemical that when the plastic
bag decomposes, it releases it into the air, causing our air to be tainted.
Plastic bags are a waste, and thats why we need to cut down on plastic bags and start using reusable
bags, they would cut down 80% of the plastic bag pollution. If we cut that down, we would save over 40
million bags!!! Then we would save 20 million barrels of oil!!! Also if we reduced plastic bags, people
would start using reusable ones and they would be saving wildlife, and possibly the death of humans.
Wildlife is harmed everyday by digesting, choking, or even getting caught in plastic bags. The 41
animal harmed by plastic bags are turtles. A turtles favorite food is a jellyfish, and a plastic bag floating
in the ocean looks like a jellyfish so turtles digest it and die shortly after. Also a plastic bag could be
floating in mid air, and then a bird swoops it up or flies right into it and can't get out, and chokes on it
later.
Any animal could die, or get seriously injured by one plastic shopping bag. In the ocean, of the ocean,
it could get caught on coral, it could decompose into dirt and effect our drinking water!!! Plastic bags
are a hazard, a waste of money, and a waste of our time. Sooner or later our whole world will be taken
over by plastic bags, our dirt would be plastic bags, our air would be plastic bags!!! So reduce plastic
bags now, before its to late!!!
