Reasons To Reduce The Use Of Plastic Bags
1. They use up Natural Resources
2. Plastic bags harm Wildlife and Marine Life
3. It creates litter
4. They take a long time to Biodegrade
- Plastic bags take 1,000 years to Biodegrade
-A plastic bag floating around as litter takes 20 yearsThey're expensive
5. Between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide
each year
6. It costs $4000 to process and recycle 1 ton of plastic bags
-It costs more to recycle a bag than produce one
7. Nearly 200 different species of sea life die because of plastic bags
8. By using a cloth bag we can save:
-6 bags a week = 24 bags a month = 288 bags per year = 22,176 bags saved
in a LIFETIME
-If just 1 our of 5 people did this we would save 1,330,560,000,000 bags over
our lifetime
9. China will save 37 million barrels of oil each year due to their banned of
free plastic bags
