Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 281, reports as follows:
Bill No. 281, transmitted by Acting Director of Finance Dixie Kaetsu, via Communication
No. 840, dated July 3, 2000, amends Ordinance No. 00-63, as amended, the Operating Budget,
ending June 30, 2001. The amendment is as follows:

3304.84 State Grants -DARE/DOE General $6,140
To:
010-201-5219.49 DARE/DOE General $6,140
The State Department of Education is providing funding to the Hawaii County Police
Department for the purpose of sending officers to the National D.A.R.E. Officers Association
Training Conference. To provide a consistent and good curriculum for the students, the officers
must be properly trained. These officers will in return provide the necessary support for the
D.A.R.E. program in all public and participating private schools within the County of Hawaii.
An amount of $35,000 is already appropriated in the FY 2000-01 budget.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 281 and
recommends it pass first reading.
