Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred
Communication No. 133, reports as follows:
Communication No. 133, from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated March 14, 2011, requests
confirmation of the reappointment of Emile W. Wery to the Hawai`i County Veterans
Advisory Commission.
Mr. Wery is a Korean War Veteran. He also served in the Hawai`i Army National Guard from
1991 to 2000. His further service includes being Commander and Vice Commander of the
Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Pursuant to Section 15 -61, Hawai`i County Code, there shall be a Veterans Advisory Committee
composed of 16 members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the County Council.
Clayton Honma, Deputy Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation was present and
spoke in support of Mr. Wery's reappointment and stated that his new term will expire on
December 31, 2015.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Communication No. 133, and recommends confirmation of the reappointment of
Emile W. Wery to the Hawai`i Veterans Advisory Commission.
