Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 286, reports as follows:
Bill No. 286, transmitted by Acting Director of Finance Dixie Kaetsu, via Communication
No. 856, dated July 11, 2000, amends Ordinance No. 00-64, as amended, the Capital Budget
ending June 30, 2001, by adding the following project:
PUBLIC WORKS:
Kilauea Corridor Traffic Signal Upgrade-Federal 110-399-5391.28-115 $1,600,000
Funds for this project shall be provided from:
Federal Grants Receivable $1,600,000
Funds will be used to upgrade existing traffic signal systems at the intersections of Kilauea
Avenue with Kawailani Street, Kawili Street, Mohouli Street, Aupuni Street and Kekuanao`a
Street. Work to also include construction or reconstruction of concrete ramps and sidewalk to
comply with ADA regulations.
Some members of Your Committee expressed budgetary concerns with regard to approving the
CIP just a month ago.
A motion to approve was made and seconded, followed by a vote by the seven members in
attendance. The final vote, as reflected below, prompted the Committee Chair to forward this
measure to full Council with a negative recommendation.
Your Committee on Finance forwards Bill No. 286 to Council with a negative recommendation.
