Subject: A Resolution Requesting a Review and Possible Reform of the County of
Hawai`i's Real Property Tax Structure
Due to unusual circumstances regarding this resolution and the timing of the 2011 -2012
Budget deadlines, I am requesting that the Real Property Tax Structure Review
Resolution be placed on the agenda for the May 17, 2011 Council meeting. This
resolution will have impact on budgetary decisions that will be made at the May 18, 2011
Council meeting.
I requested a waiver through the May 16, 2011 Finance Committee but that request was
denied by Finance Committee Chairperson Ford. It is on the Finance Committee agenda
for May 16, 2011 and Chair Ford will provide the Committee report to the
Councilmembers prior to the resolution being read on May 17, 2011.
Please place this resolution on the agenda for Council meeting scheduled for May 17,
2011.
