Re: Comm. No. 789/Bill No. 265
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 265, reports as follows:
Bill No. 265, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 264 by Council Member Julie Jacobson, via
Communication No. 789, dated May 19, 2000, amends Chapter 2, Article 15, of the Hawaii
County Code, by adding a new section relating to limits on financial interests by the Mayor and
County Council Members and their immediate families in businesses doing business with the
County.
This measure would make it illegal for the Mayor and County Council Members or their
immediate families to have $1,000 or more in business interests in a company that does any
business with the County.
Originally heard on July 25, 2000, this measure was deferred for further discussion.
A motion to approve was made and seconded, followed by a vote by the seven members in
attendance. The final vote, as reflected below, prompted the Committee Chair to forward this
measure to full Council with a negative recommendation.
For informational purposes, Mr. Chung voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance forwards Bill No. 265 to Council with a negative recommendation.
