SUBJECT: Request for reconsideration of Bill No. 51, draft 2
On May 17, 2011 the Council defeated Bill No. 51, draft 2 in a 4 -4 tie vote. As a result of this action the kokua
zone that allows for the County of Hawai`i Hele -on bus service to be free to its riders will expire on
June 30, 2011. Fees for the Hele -on bus will then return to their much higher, pre -kokua zone rates.
As a result of this unintended consequence of the May 17, 2011 Council vote I will be making a motion to
reconsider the action taken on Bill No. 51, draft 2, at the June 1, 2011 meeting of the Hawai`i County Council.
Should my motion for reconsideration be passed by the Council, Bill 51, draft 2 would be live on the floor at
second and final reading. Therefore, I am requesting Bill 51, draft 2 be placed on the June 1, 2011 Council
agenda under "Other Business ".
I am submitting this request pursuant to Rule No. 15 of the Rules of Procedure and Organization of the Council
of the County of Hawai`i.
