Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication 214, reports as follows:
Communication 214, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, requests the Council's
acceptance of a donation of (1) bird cage and three (3) bird - reference books, with a total
estimated value of $100 to be used to help care for birds and provide additional educational
material for staff at the County of Hawai`i Department of Parks and Recreation's Pana`ewa
Rainforest Zoo and Gardens.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the donor, Ms. Gail Ellen Ackerman.
Pursuant to 1) Article XII, Section 13 -12, Hawai`i County Charter the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money, 2) Section 2 -162, Hawai`i County Code, a gifts
or donations of money, securities or personal property which do not fall within the capitalization
procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted to the Council by letter for its
approval.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication 214,
recommends approval of the donation of (1) bird cage and three (3) bird - reference books to the
Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens.
