SUBJECT: Recommendation that Hawai'i County Withdraw from HtAC
I respectfully recommend that the Hawaii County Council consider withdrawing membership
from the Hawaii State Association of Counties (HSAC) for the 2011 -12 fiscal year. The reason
for this recommendation is that the County of Hawaii has been overlooked with respect to
Directorship position on the National Association of Counties (NACo.
I believe that a strong, unified message should be conveyed to the HSAC Executive Board and
members that opportunities for the County of Hawaii to serve on these important leadership
positions should not be overlooked.
