Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 312-OQ reports as follows:
Resolution No. 312-OQ transmitted by Director of Finance Dixie Kaetsu, via
Communication No. 888, dated August 10, 2000, creates a Workers Compensation Specialist III
position and a Personnel Clerk II position for the Workers Compensation Unit of the Division of
Industrial Safety.
The Workers Compensation Unit, is desirous of creating a Workers Compensation Specialist III
positions and a Personnel Clerk II position due to a recent study and a comparative review of
other jurisdictions' programs of the workers compensation unit.
Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor has the power to
"create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...".
Also said Resolution authorizes that $83,902 be transferred form the Workers Compensation
account (010-911-5911.86) to the following accounts:
010-261-5261.01 Salaries and Wages $79,092
010-261-5261.06 Equipment 4,810
$83,902
For informational purposes, Mr. Tyler voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 312-00
and recommends its adoption.
