Vice President We are here on behalf of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce whose
Vaughn Cook membership includes approximately 300 businesses comprising more than 700
Treasurer individual members and ask that you approve Bill 311, related to the $56
Charles Erskine million bond authorization.
Past President W feel this is an opportunity for our government to help stimulate the

economy and provide good paying jobs for working families. Our members
Directors and their families need the jobs now.

Mitchell Dodo The projects slated to be financed by the proposed bond offering are needed
Charles Esrkine and will go a long way to improving the quality of life and safety for our
Stan Fortuna, Jr. residents, saving the environment by decreasing our dependency on fossil fuels

Karina Leasure Why this makes sense now. We have hundreds of construction workers out of
Marco Mangelsdorf work. The projects, once financed and commenced, will put these people back
Keith Marrack to work, generating more money into our economy. Bond interest rates are at
Eugene Nishimura extremely low levels which means our County can save money by borrowing
Spencer Oliver now. If we wait, our borrowing costs may increase, costing taxpayers more.
Glenn Santos Finally, based on our economy, bid prices for construction work are at their
Margaret Shiba lowest levels in years. The County has the potential to save millions of dollars
Kimberly Shimabuku if the work is done sooner, rather than later.
