Subject: Support for OV Solid Waste Transfer Station
Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Solid Waste Transfer and Recycling Station — $3,000,000
The residents of the rapidly growing community of Ocean View are obliged to travel 12 miles
to dispose of household waste and drop off recyclable materials. Providing construction
funding for this project will offer residents with a convenient location to recycle and dispose
of their solid waste, and will reduce illegal dumping. The community has been engaged in a
lengthy site selection process, an environmental impact statement has been completed, and
the county is negotiating to acquire property for this project.
As a resident of Naalehu, we are strongly in favor of funding this extremely important
community need.
