Dear Councilmember's,
I am Mary Begier, a taxpayer of this county. I ask you to pass Bill 311 Draft today.
I considered not coming today because I am struggling with some of the projects these
funds are allocated towards. I question the real need to go into debt for some of them and
yet I shout to the rooftops of the viability and necessity for others of the projects.
I was frustrated by what appears to be a lack of trust between the legislative and
administrative branches of our county government. I did well in civics and understand that
the three levels of government were designed to keep each branch doing what is best for
the people they all serve. But sometimes it doesn't look too respectful to us taxpayers.
In the end I decided that my doubting your judgment would only exacerbate that potential
distrust so I'm here today to say that I don't really distrust you. I know you have a great
deal on your plate and not near enough resources to do all you'd love to do. I'm just
struggling in my own business day to day, hoping that I am making the correct decisions
for my company, my family, my community. So in the end I decided to finish what I started
and came to say I trust you, I ask you to trust each other and our administration. We are
not going to get through these tough times alone. We need one another. We need to care
for one another.
As I said please pass Bill 311 Draft 2 today.
