Testimony from Daniel Taylor, Chair, PCDP Action Committee
For the County Council
Subject: Support for Planning Director's Amendments to the PCDP, Bills 35, 36, 37
We thank County Council for their interest in activities of the Puna Community Development Plan and
for attention to the Action Committee.
Members of the Action Committee had considered the Bills noted here at one or two of our previous
meetings, and fully support the Planning Director's decision to amend the PCDP. We learned that some
Council members asked why a representative from the Action Committee didn't speak to you in support
of the Planning Director's decision. We didn't think it would be necessary to do so, and apologize if it
appears to you that we take Council or Planning Director for granted. We do not. Indeed we wish to
keep Council informed of our progress and activities, and we desire to work closely with Council.
We will soon present to you an annual report of progress of the PCDP, and we will present to the
Planning Director a critical report of our work as a committee. We are breaking new ground as a
committee who represents the residents of communities in Puna District. We are pleased to be part of
the implementation of a community- driven long range community development plan, and we hope you
will be pleased with the work we are doing. We are alive and well.
