My name is Virginia Isbell and I am here to speak in favor of this Resolution requesting land for the establishment of a West Hawai'i Multi- Purpose and Inter - Generational Veterans Center. I want to personally thank Councilman Angel Pilago and his staff for providing the veterans with this excellent well- written Resolution. This Veterans Center will be a gathering place for our Military Community and Veteran Organizations. We have been working with the Kauai, Oahu, and Maui Veterans Centers and have a handle on what needs to be done. It is our vision that the West Hawai'i Veterans Center (WHVC) will be a key center to promote and enhance the delivery of benefits to all deserving Veterans, their families, and dependents of those who have given their lives for their country. It will be a standing monument that honors their service, promotes their military heritage and embraces their family. It will serve as a meeting place for all military functions, Veteran events, and family programs. And we look forward to your favorable support for this Resolution. May 4, 2011 Aloha. I want to thank you for hearing this Resolution before the full Council today and have included my testimony previously given. On Friday of this week, in the Governor's Ceremonial Office, the W. Hi. Veterans Council will be receiving the "Shrine Award" for their excellent work with the W. Hi. Veterans Cemetery. This same Veterans Council will be working diligently to bring this W. Hi. Veterans Center to reality. I ask for your continued favorable support for the final passage of this Resolution in support of the W. Hi. Veterans Center. The Resolutions on this issue were heard in the State House of Representatives and Senate and passed unanimously and now are on the Governor's desk for action. Mahalo for hearing it today. Comm.
