Re: Presentation by Pacific Waste /Bio- energy Hawai`i by Mr. Guy Kaniho
Mr. Guy Kaniho of Pacific Waste/ Bio- energy Hawai`i has agreed to make a presentation
to the Hawaii County Council in regards to the proposal that was presented to Mayor Kenoi
and his administration. The proposal details a possible public- private partnership utilizing the
County of Hawaii sort station and recovery facility in Hilo.
I would sincerely appreciate you scheduling a 30 minute presentation in the Committee on Environmental
Management that is scheduled for July 6, 2011.

Dear Mr. Kaniho,
I heard about the presentation by your company to the administration in regards to utilizing
the sort station and recovery facility at the Hilo landfill. I contacted your consultant Larry
Capellas and requested a meeting in order to educate myself on the proposal, and we met
recently in Honoka'a.
I sincerely believe that a power -point presentation by Pacific WasteBio- Energy Hawaii to the
Hawaii County Council Environmental Committee would be appropriate and worthwhile.
The tough economic times that we face dictates that we carefully look at all options that may
be beneficial to the tax payers of the County of Hawaii. We face many challenges in dealing
with our waste stream, and I do believe that we must be open to private- public partnerships _
that work in the best interest of the people of our County.
