Subject: budget -- support Kona Open Space network/ June 1
Dear council members,
Please support funding in the new budget for an Open Space Network for the
Kona region. This is legally mandated. The Kona Community Development Plan
(KCDP) calls for the identification and protection of green and open spaces in
and around healthy communities. The top priority of the KCDP Action Committee
by unanimous vote is development of the Open Space Network Program. KCDP
sought to start the Open Space Network (OSN) Plan within one or two years —
but it's been almost 32 months already. The OSN will unify the Public Access,
Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission objectives with
the KCDP to better align local funding resources with community needs.
