By your recent votes I understand that those "more important" things include subsidized cheap golf fees and a marching band in Hilo. Please look forward to that day in the future when your grandchildren discover old photos of the beauty that once was Hawaii Nei and ask "what happened to this place and that place ?" and you have to answer, well they are all built over and in private hands, now, so you will never see those special places as God made them, but that's okay because we had some nice parades in our day, and we didn't have to pay much for golf fees!" Make no mistake that if you vote to raid the land fund you will be making a value judgement that golf courses (copied from Scotland) are more important than the incredible natural beauty that has existed only on Hawaii Island since time immemorial. You would also be making a judgement that the wishes of the voters who elected you do not matter. We the voters who have repeatedly voted to fund the land fund with OUR tax dollars believe that our aina IS important, and that our legally recorded wished DO matter. Sincerely, Doug Perrine Ref.
