Sir:
I cannot attend the next council meeting and I would appreciate it if you could read this letter at the
next meeting which I believe will be on 1 June.. I write it in the hopes that it can put this issue to
rest which I know is a thorn in all of your sides.

I am addressing this council with regards to the Golf Course issue. I am well aware of Councilman
Pete Hoffman and Brenda Ford in their desire to make the Municipal Golf Course beyond the reach
of the seniors.
Mr. Hoffman has written to me about his regards, that because of the financial hardship this county
is facing which by the way he helped make it so as did the rest of the council in their desire and habit
of spending more than the revenues taken in. I do understand we have progressives that cannot
understand, you must live within your means. I wish the council would realize you cannot spend
and spend when you do not have the revenue.
I suggested to Mr. Hoffman that they could raise the senior monthly rate twenty dollars more a
month. That would more than take care of what he claims, cost the county five dollars per golfer to
go and play golf. But what is not understood by him and others is that the golfers must pay more
just so the county can balance their budget. BUT there is no mention of what it cost the county for
each swimmer using the county pools. Nor has there been any concerns of how much the county has
to pay for those that use the tennis courts and the parks. With the regards to the parks, they have to
clean up after those that go there and leave their trash.
I can understand if the county wants to raise the rates at Muni. Those rates have not been changed in
years. But to put the burden on the seniors, that I cannot understand. We seniors do pay taxes. We
seniors also pay some of the wages Mr. Hoffman and the council members get paid. We do not golf
every day but for some of us it is the only exercise that we get. Yes we walk and pull our own carts.
And because of that it helps us to stay alive and be well.
Thank you
