Subject: COUNTY BANDS
Aloha Members of the Hawaii County Council:
Please accept my note with regard to the County Bands. The bands are very important
to our island. To cut funding for the bands would be a huge mistake. The spirit shared
at each performance by band members is enjoyed by so many. When the bands
perform in Hilo, not only Hilo residents attend. Same with Waimea or Kona. People
travel from all parts of the island to support and hear our bands. If funding is to be cut,
there are many other areas that should be researched where a cut is very necessary but
the bands should be continually supported in their efforts as they perform and share
their talents with our communities throughout the big island of Hawaii. Please do not
cut funding for our bands.
