We totally support Bill 18 : AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY ESTABLISHING A NEW CHAPTER RELATING TO
REDISTRICTING.
The bill adds important criteria for redistricting to accomplish a fair and equitable redistricting plan. We
support the criteria totally. Further, the rules need to be spelled out in the county code so that they will
be obeyed.
Puna was the big loser in the previous reapportionment plan; this must not happen again.
