Your Committee on Economic Development and Mass Transit, to which was referred
Communication No. 231, reports as follows:
Communication No. 231, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated June 1, 2011, nominates
Mr. Douglas Espejo to serve on the County of Hawai`i Transportation Committee.
A lifetime resident of Hawai`i, Mr. Douglas Espejo is currently employed by Big Island Car
Wash. He is a past member of the County of Hawaii Transportation Commission, and he is now
eligible for reappointment. Of no political affiliation, if confirmed he will serve a term to expire
on December 31, 2013.
The Mayor's Executive Assistant, Charmaine Shigemura introduced Mr. Douglas Espejo and
several Council Members spoke in support of his appointment.
Council Member Onishi advised him that he need not appear before the full council for
confirmation.
Your Committee on Economic Development& Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Comm. 231, recommends the appointment of Mr. Douglas Espejo to the County of
Hawai`i Transportation Commission.
